Having ridden bikes since i was 16 the urge to race had become a major goal in my life Easter weekend 1974 was when it all started My weapon of choice was to be a KAWASAKI H1b 500cc Two stroke triple by far the fastest thing i had ever ridden. Modifications were few Read titan rearsets and a set of ace bars .The crowd was huge Drag racing was really a big deal back then .......However it wasnt a fairy tale debut and i was knocked out by Mick Carters Commado yes they were the bikes to beat then...But that was it i was hooked and so began my greatest obbsession.
My 500 triple evolved over the next few seasons in its final form it ran with Brian Flak ported barrels and cambell geometrics expansion chambers i even managed to find a pub to sponser me and the bike was campaigned for a short while as the KINGS ARMS KAWASAKI ... The bike ran for 3 more seasons eventually getting down into the low 12 second bracket small game now but back then only slightly off the pace.. I returned to 1/4 miling in the early 80s this time however i went sprinting with the welsh sprint society and the NSA and actually won a few championships with various bikes..36 Years on im still doing it..ive ridden loads of great bikes through the years and in 2008 I RETURNED TO DRAG RACING IN THE ACU SUPER STREET CLASS ok at the bottom of the field but what a great time on my Turbo Busa, which held the weston zoyland course record for a while with the NSA..Now im lucky enough to run my hero Mr Parnells 2 old bikes Rouge etNoir 2 and the Parny express nitrous kwack zx12r. And best of all Kp crews for me
